Basketball is off and running. Wrestlers are up early on the weekend for their scrimmage. Smokers are waiting on the snow. Music department is getting ready for big concert. Math and Debate teams continue their winning ways. Student Council is busy working with charitable service project and a sense able dance policy. Clubs and student activities fill the afternoon. In addition to all the extra-curricular, students go to school, study, take tests, finish projects and hopefully learn like enriching skills.
The high school experience is a constant flow of things and friends and happenings. Finding an identity and place in the greater society is trial and error. Mistakes happen. Some friends are just not worth it. What looked like fun evolved into it's own disaster. Over the years of school not much has changed. Teenagers advance one day at a time. But they are precious days and none can be repeated.
Pay attention to the moods and temperaments. Listen to what is not being said. Watch the circle of "friends.". Were is the money going?
Keep them safe. Hug frequently.

Step-Up is a City of Minneapolis Summer Jobs Program that will train thousands of students the skills you need to be successful and then place students in a paid, professional summer job.

Costumers for Hairspray Needed
Calling all Costumers!!
Every Monday and Wednesday after school from 3:15-4:30 or 5:00, we will be working on the Costume Plot for Hairspray!
This is going to be a really fun and creative show to be a part of. It’s really important that you become a part of ‘building’ the show with us if you want to be involved in running the show come performance time. You will be learning how to sew, how to pattern, how to re-design, embellish and alter existing clothing.
Hair and Make-up design is significant to the show and we will be learning how to teach and assist actors with creating the Hairspray ‘look’.

Parents needed for Dance Policy
Student Council Dance Policy Meeting Scheduled for December 8 at 5:30 in the Media Center.
Parents and students will meet to discuss the new Southwest Dance Policy.

BULLIED -- Film and Discussion Dec 1, at 7:00 pm
A screening of the film -- BULLIED -- will be followed by a discussion with Jamie Nabozny, the inspiration of the documentary.
The film and presentation is presented by the Conflict Resolution Center.
The screening will be in the Southwest High School Auditorium starting at 7:00 pm. A $25.00 donation is requested. No students with ID will be turn-ed away.

Snow again - finally
Well it really wasn't much of a snow. Light of the walks maybe and a little on side streets. But it is snow.
Remember the walks or long waits for buses. Even this little snow can be slick and be careful walking and parking. Being careless causes more accidents than the weather conditions.
The building is warm and we continue through. This is the 61st student day so the time marches quickly on.
Girls Basketball starts tonight with an away game. So the winter sports are off and running as well. Check the athletic calendar and come out and support your favorite Laker team.
