Welcome back Brooke

Hi all,
Brooke Dugdale, our permanent Spanish Bilingual AE, is coming home today from India where she and her husband have traveled and studied alongside a group of college students.

On Monday she will be picking up where Mario left off, sharing rich stories of her experiences...garment factories, taj mahal, food industry, social injustices, festivals, an indigenous settlement, watching big agriculture demolish farmers and their livelihoods....at first in passing, but hopefully, at some point, in the form of a presentation.  She's a talented photographer and storyteller.

Welcome home, Brooke!

Mario continue his work with student at Roosevelt High School. Well wishes and thank you, Mario.

Winter Dance Concert

You and your family should attend this wonderful Winter Dance Concert. Tonight, Friday the 16th is the final night. It is a complete celebration of a tremendous dance program at Southwest. There are about 200 performers presenting a delightful, serious and beautiful show.

We are priviledged to have Colleen Callahan Russell, a National recognized dance educator, as our lead. She provides opportunities for our students to dance and learn from the professional dancers in the area and nation. She promotes expression and sense of self and respect. The dance program at Southwest is outstanding and as an educational community we all benefit from its work.

Friday night with opening curtain at 7:00 pm

Trip to Japan June 2012

Trip to Japan in June, 2012

There will be an evening meeting on Tuesday, December 20th 2011 for all who are interested in discussing the Japan trip details using last year’s material.

We will discuss an affordable budget.

The tentative dates for travel are from June 12th to June 25th, 2012. It could be shorter depending on what the group decides for cost-cutting measures.

If you know of a friend who is interested in going to Japan, please bring him/her along. At present the trip is open to all students. The more students who attend the trip, the cheaper the costs will be on the average per person.

Please come to room 219 for more details.
