Schedule Survey for Your Thoughts and Comments

This school year, Southwest moved from a six period to a seven period day. Due to an inability of changing start time, the periods were shorter this year as compared to last. The current word is that with Go-Cards next school year, we will be able to start earlier and the periods will be longer.

With all of that being considered, we requesting feedback from you on the decision to move to the 7-period day. One reason was to provide students with more opportunities and selections. This is the end of the first quarter and there has been time to settle into the routine and develop a feeling for the schedule.

Thus, please complete the very short survey about the increased flexibility for the students. There is space for your thoughts and comments.

Go the Student Flexibility survey here

In advance, thank you.

Support Needed for Electives for Second Semester

Second Semester does not begin until Jan. 22, 2013.  But it is not too early to start thinking about  needs and opportunities.  With your financial support we can offer more electives for students.  The 7-period day builds some options into the student schedule.  That is the good part.  Having the options that students want and need is a second part.

We are looking at Test Prep sections, fine art electives and other options.  But without your financial backing we will not be able to open those and other sections.  Please consider the end-of-the-year giving opportunity.  All amounts are helpful.

No School for Students Friday Nov. 2

Friday, November 2, 2012 is a record keeping day for teachers.  There is no school for students.

Monday, Nov. 5 is the first day of the second semester.  Don't forget to "fall back" an hour Sunday morning as that is the end of Daylight Savings time for this year.

The first quarter is now history and hopefully the beginning of another fantastic school year and great GPA.  If it falls a bit short, build some determination to get with it for the next quarter.

Girls Swimming City AND Twin City Champions!

The Girls Laker Swim Team was victorious in the Twin City championship against St Paul Central last night.

The final score was 111 to 75.

It was been since 2009 since the Lakers won the TC championship.

Congratulations swimmers and coaches.

Good luck to the swimmers on 6AA sections next Thursday.
