Singer, and Jess Winfield, and directed by Sierra Larsen, Allie Feriancek, and
Leni Sophocleus.
Come early for limited seating to the Southwest Blackbox at 7 PM
on November 10-13th!

Southwest Math Team Earns a Tie for First Place!
Southwest
Math Team Earns a Tie for First Place!
We had a competition on Monday, November 2 at Roosevelt High School. In the
Minneapolis Division, 154 students from eight high schools participated in the
first competition. Over half of the participants were from Southwest – 79 of
our own students took part in the competition!
Southwest High School and South High School earned a tie for first place. Both
schools had one student with a perfect score at the meet. Congratulations to
Paul Heltemes on his perfect performance!
Our next competition is on Monday, November 23. We will be traveling to
Washburn High School. Our third competition of the year is on December 14 at
Southwest High School.

Minneapolis Mayor's Office Delegation Visits Southwest Sister School Kasugaoka High School in Japan
The delegation from the Minneapolis Mayor's office visited our sister school,
Kasugaoka High School. They watched the musical “Lion King” and an Aikodo (martial art) practice.
Since the delegation wore Southwest T-shirts, Staff at
Kasugaoka felt closer to the group. Students received Southwest’s pens
and they looked happy.

Southwest Building for Our Future

The building represents the school district investment in the future of our district and our city. It is only fitting that the students representing our future add their work to completing the brick work for the future - theirs and ours.
Ten new rooms have been opened since the start of construction in March of this year. The center section and 14 more rooms will be added around the middle of March 2016. Included in the next year opening will be the kitchen, commons and media center. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by fall of 2016.
Southwest Dance Concert Nov. 9 at 7:00 pm at Intermedia Arts
The Southwest Advanced IB Dance
Class will be performing on Monday Evening November 9th at 7:00 p.m. at
Intermedia Arts (2822 Lyndale Ave. S.) for it's Dance Fundraiser.
The money donated will benefit students who need scholarships money for our New
York Dance Trip we will be taking with Theater in April. We are happy to be
inhabiting Intermedia for the first time in many years.
All 44 students will be
performing duet projects that they have been working on for six weeks.
Dare
I say it is some of the nicest, innovative work I have seen yet.
The
photo attached is of course taken by our former colleague and science teacher,
Marc Wanvig. It is from last year's show at Patrick's Cabaret and was
choreographed by Tess Dutton and Nate Kay.
This year's stimuli was to
create a work that somewhere includes language(spoken, illuded to, written
etc.).
