The Southwest Speech Team open its season at the Chanhassen Invitational Tournament. 27 different high school competed with over 700 students.
This is the first tournament of an eleven tournament season concluding with the state tournament in April.
The Speech Team season started with a great series of rounds for junior Sophia Deady. Sophia, Debate Team member, started her first year in speech with a outstanding third place in Extemporaneous Speaking.
Each regular season tournament consists of three rounds and the highest scores move on to a finals round. Sophia had a successful three rounds and moved to Finals and finished third in a strong field.
The next tournament is at Hill-Murray next Saturday.
