June 1, 2012 - the 70th graduation of Southwest High School students!
They cheered, they applauded, they listened and they celebrated. It was a great ceremony of joy and love. The speakers were wonderful. A time of memory and hope. The common themes were: dreams, hopes, together, engaged, supportive and go out there and do it. You have to hear the speeches. Check out the boardcast times on cable TV and watch the entire program.
402 graduates crossed the stage. The Convention Center auditorium was packed. Families, friends and loved ones gathered to announce to the world that the Class of 2012 was ready to "get it on."
The economy and the divided current political system was intertwined in the speeches. All were challenged to"change the world" and to continue the support and unity that marked this class. In spite of current conditions, the speakers urged the graduates to keep dreaming and moving toward those bigger challenges.
The Southwest High School Class of 2012 is now part of the larger society and forged past another milestone in their young lives. We wish them well and send them on with love, hope and pride.
