World Victory is Ours (almost)
Southwest students again give us reason to be proud (not to speak for Alex, but I am sure he concurs) . Alex and I each entered a team for the Academic WorldQuest tournament, held at the General Mills Headquarters. The funny thing is that we each entered a team without the knowledge that the other person was entering the same tournament (we found out by accident just a few days ago). This is the same tournament that my Knowledge Bowl team won a few years ago that allowed them to go to Washington DC. I never realized that others knew it existed. Our teams took on the cities' best schools and, in an ending that seems vey fitting and equitable, tied for third place out of 34 high caliber teams! (we won't talk about the tie-breaker) Alex and I were like proud parents watching over our bright, fun, and extraordinarily decent kids. Thank you to all of you that have taught them so well. We may not have taken first, but we certainly showed that SW can compete with ANY school. Please congratulate these students for a job very well done.
