There is a planned Student Walk-out scheduled for 12:30 pm
today (Friday, November 11). The organized effort involves students from
all across the city and metro area. The route is from the various schools
to the US Bank park downtown near the new stadium.
The stated purpose is to show support for the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe resistance
to the Dakota Access Pipeline and President-elect Trump’s stance on the issues
and environment/climate.
Organizers of the walkout informed students that
participation in the walkout is an unexcused absence. Once a student
chooses to leave school there is no reentry for that day.
This is not an official school function and if a student chooses to leave the building that is his/her responsibility. Some students did leave with the walk out. Many chose not to participate and continued with a regular school day.
