Music Concert at the Basilica of St. Mary on Dec 12th
The Southwest High School Music Department presents it's annual Holiday Concert on Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, 7pm at the Basilica of St Mary, 16th & Hennepin Ave.
The Concert will feature four choirs, Wind Ensemble and Chamber Orchestra.
Please join us for this free public performance of music to celebrate the season.
All donations will be gratefully accepted to support the Music programs at Southwest.

The end of the semester brings SW dance students onto the SW stage with their dance work.
Student choreography as well as guest works by Kenna Camara Cottman , Dario and Giselle Mejia and dance instructor Colleen Callahan. Join us in this festive event!

We are extremely proud of our athletes! We continue to win championships each year. Winning and awards are important. However, we believe the grade point average (GPA) also is a must.

Bight Sunny Cold
Wonderful sun and warm through the windows. But that wind is cold. Please bundle up in the morning. Those walks from the car to school and return at the end of the day can be quite cold.
Still slippery in spots and on side streets. Be careful when you park and walk. Don't be one of those accidents.
Coats may not be in fashion but they do add heat to the body. And it is not really the cold winter weather yet. Have a chat about common sense and wearing a coat when it is this cold out.

Help Think About Dances at Southwest Thurs. Dec. 8
This Thursday, December 8th, there will be a meeting in the Media Center at 5:30 about the new Southwest High School Dance Policy.
The meeting will address changes to the policy and then the floor will be open to any questions parents have. All parents are welcome to attend!

Southwest Debate Second in State Tournment.
The Southwest Debate Team competed in the Minnesota State Debate Tournament this weekend. With over 138 teams beginning the Laker Debaters finished the season in great form by earning the distinction of being number two in the state. This is the first major state title for the Southwest Debate Team in the history of the school.
In the novice division Taylor Leighton and Noah Rothman maxed it to the state rounds and finished 5th in the state.
Two teams into the state rounds in the junior varsity division. Kia Okuma and Sirene Benjaafar finished 5th in the state. Sophia Deady and Sowda Mohamed finished number 2 in the state.
For the first time, Southwest two debaters entered the varsity state rounds. Avi Gori and Mariah Oxley finished the season earning the title of 5th in the state.
Based on total points the Southwest Debate Team earned the title of number 2 in the state. Eastview High School was number one in the state.
Congratulations to the Southwest Debate Team!
