PIANO TRIO FROM MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA, TO APPEAR ON NPR’s FROM THE TOP
Episode airs nationally the week of April 29, 2013 and on Classical Minnesota Public Radio 99.5 on May 5 at 12:00 PM
The Hartman-Warren-Doyle Trio from Minneapolis, Minnesota, will appear on an upcoming episode of From the Top, the hit NPR radio program featuring America’s best young classical musicians and hosted by acclaimed pianist Christopher O’Riley. Broadcast from Athens, Georgia, the show will air nationally the week of April 29, 2013 and on Classical Minnesota Public Radio on May 5, 2013 at 12:00 PM. The episode was taped before a live audience at the Hodgson Hall on March 3, 2013; the University of Georgia Performing Arts Center presented the live taping.
The Hartman-Warren-Doyle Trio is a piano trio from the Twin Cities. The trio’s members include: 17 year-old Luther Warren from New Brighton, Minnesota on the violin, 16 year-old Nora Doyle from Minneapolis, Minnesota on the cello, and 15 year-old Derek Hartman from Blain, Minnesota on the piano. On the broadcast, the trio performs the first movement from the Piano Trio in G Minor, Opus 15 by Bedřich Smetana.
Also on the broadcast: 17-year-old pianist Ariela Bohrod from Madison, Wisconsin performs Andante Spianato et Grande Polonaise Brillante, Opus 22 by Frédéric Chopin; 18-year-old guitarist Bokyung Byun from New York City, New York, performs “Recuerdos de la Alhambra” by Francisco Tárrega; 19-year-old cellist Wickliffe Simmons from Atlanta, Georgia, performs “Kaddish” by Maurice Ravel accompanied by Christopher O’Riley; and 17-year-old violinist Maria Ioudenitch from Overland Park, Kansas, performs Scherzo-Tarantelle, Opus 16 by Henryk Wieniawski accompanied by Christopher O’Riley.

Through award-winning NPR and PBS programs, online media, a national tour of live events, and education programs, From the Top shares the stories and performances of pre-collegiate musicians with millions each week.

The Luna String Quartet on to the Next Round MPR 99.5
The Luna String Quartet,
composed of two Southwest stduents (Emma Richman is one of them) won a place in the
Varsity Competition on Classical MPR 99.5
They advance to the next
round this Sunday at 5:00pm. You can listen to 99.5FM at that time, or perhaps
stream it.
