Please consider supporting Southwest in other ways. Here are some ideas we have been sharing with parents:
• Make a direct financial contribution to the Southwest Education Fund. Go to www.sweducationfund.org or click on the “donate now” button on the homepage of Southwest High School Online donations are processed through Achieve Minneapolis. Please make sure to specify Southwest High School. You may also send a check, made out to Southwest Education Fund, to Southwest High School, 3434 West 47th Street, Minneapolis MN 55410.
• Sign up for Target’s Take Charge of Education RedCard and designate Southwest High School. Use this credit card for your Target purchases and 1% goes back to Southwest High School. We receive over $20,000 a year from this program. That is a lot of spiral notebooks and cleaning supplies! See www.target.com/tcoe.
• Shop at Kowalski’s grocery store on 54th and Lyndale and put your receipt in the plastic bin marked Southwest (the plastic bin is located at the end of the check out lanes in one of the windows facing onto Lyndale.)
• Check with your employer about matching funds. Your Human Resources Department is the best place for more information.
• Donate paperbacks books to the Paperback Exchange at 2227 W 50th Street. When books are donated, they create a credit for Southwest High School students. Students can then use these credits to buy books at a deep discount (70% for used books and 25% off the trade credit for new books). Make sure you identify yourself as a Southwest High School parent or student.
