Please Dress Your Children

I see more of your children than I really care to.  I understand that many change clothes the minute they hit the school door.  At least that is what I am going to believe.

Below is the note I sent out to staff today.  All of us - including families - need to prepare to dress for success.  That does not mean that coming to school is a beach party.  When your child get to the school doors and halls, these will be the guidelines.  Please do not cause us to interfere with your day asking you to bring your child clothes or letting them come home to change.

The note to staff:

The dress – or lack of – is now a losing issue.

Students and families are complaining.  There is too much skin.

We ask so little.  Self respect is the starting point.

No bare mid section – stomachs
No Hats other than religious
No illegal statements or insults or logos on clothing
Cover your underwear – male and female – bra straps are no longer considered underwear.
Cloth hanging out from the top layer – hanging below shorts or slacks is a no no
No large opening arm pits exposing your sports bra are or bare chest

If we are going to maintain a close to educational atmosphere we have to remind all our students that this is not a contest for how far can we go.

It takes us all – if you have a question – ask

If you have a questionable outfit in class, call AP and send the student.  If you are embarrassed to that – call and ask AP to come to room for fashion show.

It takes all 8 periods of teachers [and families] to make this work.  It should not be this complicated.
