The picture is the entrance of the new Media Center for Southwest High School. The current Media Center is located in the southwest corner of the East Building. The NEW Media Center will be located on the second floor of the new construction. It will be above part of the commons.
The current Media Center will be relocated to the rooms in front of the auditorium and directly across from the main entrance (door 3). The temporary Media Center will be there until the NEW Media Center is in place which is estimated some time in 2016. Students and teachers will be supported from this area with computer lab services being provided directly in the classrooms.
Expanded learning areas are important aspects of the new construction. Students and teachers need space for projects, discussions and group work. More and more technology is an important part of the high school learning experience. Expanded space allows for the flexibility students require throughout the year.
The entire project begins in a limited manner March 1, 2015 and is scheduled for completion for the fall of 2016.
