Every year Southwest High School coordinates a large-scale fundraiser through ourstudents, families, and local community in conjunction with a charity organization. This year we are excited to be partnering with Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota for the second year in a row.

Ourlocal Children's Hospital provides care to 13,000 inpatients and 200,000 ER and outpatients every year. Children's Hospital is the 7th largest children's health care organization in the US; it is non- profit and independent.

This year we are directly donating money to the Child and Family Services at Children’s Hospital. They offer important services to parents such as education materials, clinical social work, support groups and other services directlyconnected to the health of their child. For the children, they offer services such as libraries, the Marketplace, sibling play areas, and the unique StarStudio. These amenities not only help parents and families have an easier time dealing with the pressures of having a sick child, but they also help the children have a more enjoyable stay and recovery.

More about Star Studio: Star Studio is Children’s Hospital’s and Clinics of Minnesota’s very own closed circuit television channel. Offering handpicked programming for kids of all ages, Channel 13 is geared specifically to young patients and their families as an alternative to mainstream commercial broadcasting. In addition to pre-recorded programming, Star Studio produces several live, interactive programs for patients and their families. Live shows are filmed on the Minneapolis hospital campus and broadcast to all patient rooms in both Minneapolis and St Paul.

This year we hope to break a Southwest record, exceeding $35,000 raised. We wholeheartedly believe that with your assistance we can reach this goal! Any contribution you are able to make will be gratefully received by Children'sHospitals Child & Family Services. Please like us on Facebook, tweet your friends, and email family and friends to broaden our support. Social media works! Thanks so much for your time and consideration.
