From around the school, around the state and around the world.
Congratulations to Simon Tolman, Jasper Lazor and Amir Sharif for
winning top honors in the Youth division of the Minneapolis St. Paul
International Film Festival. You can see the awards posted as well as watch it here:
Or you can come to the Southwest Film Festival tonight (Thursday, May 4 Southwest Auditorium)
where it will screen along with 20+ other short films by passionate youthful
filmmakers in front of a vibrant, loving audience of students, families and
friends.
And that's not all. Southwest Filmmakers dominate the EDU Film Fest again this
year with 17 or 18 (there's one film attributed to us that I'm not familiar
with. anybody know a Charlie Couture?) EDU is the largest high school film
festival in the state and takes place at the Showplace Icon May 19th.
So congratulate these filmmakers too:
- Simon Tolman, Jasper Lazor and Amir Sharif (Black
and Blue)
- Charlotte Hunsicker (Seeing Each Other, Retrospect,
Pac Man Eats Everything, Ketchup Bob for President, and Peekaboo,)
- Kat Lochen and Sophie Nall (Silenced)
- Simon Tolman (Driver's Test)
- Henry Mueller (Mind Blown)
- Lucy Bowman (When I See You)
- Avi Patel (Parkour, The Pregnant Man
and SW XC Highlights)
- Simon Broan (Alone)
- Jasper Lazor, Fiona Hanley (Reflections)
- Will Maler (Is the Artist Truly Impassioned?)
- Rudy Meyer (The Family Dinner)
Black and Blue (the International Film Festival Award Winner)
also features 4 young black actors that are either currently enrolled or alumni
including Both Kueth (2015) and Charles Anderson (2016) and another whose name
escapes me right now.
I'm one proud and happy teacher.
