Southwest Teacher Appreciation and the Southwest Foundation

Students Honor Teachers - Join them today! Students entered their favorite teachers in a prize drawing. It's not too late to honor teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week! Students and families have honored teachers in many ways: Apples for Anchors! During the lunch period on Wednesday and Thursday, students had the opportunity to buy a teacher an applie for $1 and/or enter their favorite teacher, coach, or staff person in a drawing for 10 exciting prizes! The Southwest Foundation received 324 nominations! On Friday, after a random drawing from all the entries, Dr. Smith announced the ten winners: Mr. Focht-Perlberg, Ms. Glattly, Mr. Knoll, Ms. Lipe, Mr. Meyer, Mr. O'Connor, Ms. Spano, Mr. Sturm, Ms. Vujovich, and Mr. Wixson. Thank you to Pat Goldberg for helping with the prize distribution. Congratulations to the ten teachers who won prizes and to all the great teachers nominated. Students had the option of writing why they appreciated the teacher they chose. Some of the reasons included: "Because he really cares about us," "Because she is good at helping us," "He is an interesting, relatable teacher. I have learned so much," and lots of "She/He is awesome!" Give Our Teachers the Tools They Need! Honor teachers with a donation to the Southwest Foundation at our website here. We're going green with our teacher appreciation campaign this year--we're not sending a mailing--so please donate online here today.  We'll send a card to the teacher or teachers honored with the names of the students and families making the gift. The Foundation supports our teachers' work all year long. Breakfast! Dear Friend of Southwest High School, We are celebrating National Teacher Appreciation Week across the nation.  Southwest High School is full of wonderful students with growing needs, as evidenced by the major construction project now underway!  Throughout the years, one constant force has made Southwest legendary: our fantastic teachers. We applaud their success and are grateful for their remarkable daily efforts improving our students' lives!
