2009 Alum All-American Nordic Skiing

Here's a nice article about Rosie Frankowski, Southwest class of 2009, who just earned All-American honors at the NCAA Nordic Skiing Championships.  In the article, Rosie humbly thanks her teammates and coach for her hard earned success.  An a tribute that is vital in such a challenging pursuit.

Rosie is a shining example of perseverence and success.  At Southwest, she understood the value of working hard whenever the opportunity presented itself.  For example, she worked extremely hard in her classes, even the ones that didn't come naturally to her.  Ultimately, she graduated close to the top of the class and earned a full academic (not athletic) scholarship to Northern Michigan University.  Noteably, she always formed quality relationships with like minded friends.  For example, she and Edwina Gantzer, also class of 2009, religiously started their strength training 30 minutes early so that they could also attend math tutoring.

She carefully followed our training plan and patiently dealt with the stress of racing by constantly working on her flaws in practice.  She struggled as many of us struggle with learning our body's potential, but she had a great sense of humor about her short comings and her successes. The difference with Rosie is that she always picks herself up and tries again.

Congratulations to Rosie!  I honestly can't think of a person more deserving of this honor.
