Chess Team 2nd in State
The chess team did very well over the weekend.
After 4 games and almost 12 hours of sitting down playing chess on Saturday and 2 more games today, Southwest took second place in the State Chess Tournament (we lost only by half of a point).
One more draw or a win and we would have taken first place. Edina (coming from no where) took first place. Eden Prairie took third place.
Congratulations to Wes Cannon who took 5th place in state and Peter Bertel who took 11th place.
Congratulations also to Josh Jones, Brendan Berg, Danny Tincher, Isaiah Paguyo and Cameron Anderson. They did a tremendous job and played very well.
Wes had to play the number one player in the state for the third year in a row.
