Graduation 2017 Southwest

Southwest 2017 Graduation

June 4, 2017 marks the day for another 400 plus high school seniors.  This group from Southwest High School joined the ranks of adult with a high school diploma.  Each is off to make his/her mark on the world.

Each graduating class has its personality.  Regardless of the number or the year, each is special and unique.  That is true for the school and very much so for the parent, relatives, and friends of the graduates.  Each child is her/his own person and has taken that individual route to this moment.

Mariucci Area is a nice gym.   The great part is that we do not have to use tickets.  Anyone wanting to celebrate with the class can find a seat.  It is on a bus and light rail line and there is convenient parking space.  And perhaps most important is that it is available on the right day and time.

A gym remains a gym regardless of dressings.  Unfortunately, the sound system is built for noise and crowds.  Normally, not a lot of speeches during hockey games.  Hearing the words can be difficult but knowing the feelings and emotions are understood.  All the seniors can be together.  They have long walks with great opportunities for pictures.  The megaton provides huge pictures of all the happenings and each individual.  Photographing that special senior and the special moments is easy with the space.

The Southwest Class of 2017 is the 75th class to receive the Southwest diploma.  This is the first class to receive a diploma case with an imprint of the front of the finished new construction.  This is the largest class of over 400 for the past four years and probably will be the smallest class for many years to come.  Each senior has his/her memories.  For each there are special moments and some of absolute joy while others are complete pain.  We wish them well.  We hope they are prepared for the trials ahead.  We wish them good luck and good fortune.

They are now Southwest Alumni - The Class of 2017.
