Wellness at Southwest

Dear Wellness/Caafimaad/Salud Advocates:
From surveys conducted on First Friday, 118 out of a total of 125 students named “stress management” as their top interest for Wellness Day.  The Wellness Committee will be working on this and in the meantime here are 4 possible resources:
·
Quiet Time on many days after school in Rm. 110 with mindfulness facilitator, Emily Meyer.  Learn how to drop your stress levels, activate deep thought, gain self-awareness and practice ancient human traditions.  Stop in even if you're not sure and have your questions answered. For more info: emily.meyer@mpls.k12.mn.us

·         Tangible Thursdays:  1 touch of Oliver, the therapy dog=instant cortisol drop?  Main door before school.

·         Bread & Jam in the Commons this Friday, Sept. 23, from 7:30-7:50 a.m--musical therapy (compliments of Riley Swain and a new SWHS combo called Papa and the Lake Sharks) plus a variety of breads donated by Breadsmith!  This will hopefully become a weekly event!

·         OPEN! House on Tuesday, Sept. 27th.  Please stop by the PUERTAS ABIERTAS table in the Commons from 6:30-8:30 p.m., where parents, staff, and students will be sharing their wellness resources.

Feel free to bring the names and numbers of your favorite dental health, mental health, academic, sports, voice lesson, etc. professionals (compliments of PTSO and Southwest Foundation).
