Minneapolis Schools Capital Planning Open House May 1 at Davis Service Center

We invite the school community to attend the capital planning open house on Monday, May 1, from 6–8 p.m. at the Davis Center.

At this meeting, we will provide information about construction projects in many of our schools that the district will begin to work on designing next year. These projects are prioritized based on immediate safety and security needs of our buildings and are remaining projects from our previous five-year plan.

Most of the work will include completing necessary improvements to our heating, ventilation, cooling, and air conditioning systems, maintaining the physical structures (such as roofing, electricity, and other painting), and updating kitchens and other facilities to meet state requirements.

This one-year plan has been established based on a set of criteria that we will explain at the open house.  Because we engaged in significant community engagement in building the previous five-year plan and we will not be adding or changing projects for this one-year plan, we are not seeking public feedback.

We will have several community engagement sessions and committees comprised of multiple stakeholders of students, staff and parents who will inform the next one - year capital plan for FY 19 bonding and the five-year capital improvement plan starting in the 2020-24 school year.

We hope to see you at the open house to learn more! Attached is a flier you can post in your school (translations to follow), and below is some e-newsletter content you can use to share information about the event.

Please contact Candee Lovell (612.668.0395) if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Karen DeVet
