Southwest Badminton at Sectionals

Badminton players at Sectionals

…had a lot of fun yesterday and Wednesday night playing the best in the state at Badminton.  Burnsville high school had 27 courts set up at their athletic facility and almost 400 matches were played.

Every one of the Southwest women won games there and Camryn Simmons and Alysa Riebe played great in beating St. Paul Harding to make the sweet 16 in the A bracket but their reward was to play the eventual state champios duo from St Paul Johnson!!    

Paige Simmons and Zoe Brokering had a great run in the C bracket getting to the Championship game.  Our singles fought hard and got into some classic 3 set games Emily Jenewein doing well in the B Bracket and Anna Jenewein and Lily Landis doing well in the C Bracket.  Ginger Woedel and Ruy MClemore and Kajal Ondich also played hard and gained a ton of experience. 

All in all a great season by our Laker Smashers!!  Southwest on the right in the lower middle  - by Stillwater!!
