Start of Week 4

We are off and running.  School is now an important part of the daily routine!  Off to another GREAT start!

Getting to school on time.  We are striving to have all the buses at the school no later than 8:20 am.  That means a couple of the buses will be running with pick-up 5 - 10 minutes earlier.  Be prepared.  We want you to have time for breakfast and get to your locker and be on time to first period.

Walkers -- set your alarm clocks 5 minutes faster.  You do not have to eat breakfast.  We would like you to but you do not have to.  What is required is that you are in class by 8:30 am. Set that clock 5 minutes earlier.

Congestion on 47th at 8:15 am
Everyone cannot drop off his/her kids at the same time and then fight with the buses.  Think about using the other side of Beard or Chowen or down the street.  A little walk in the morning is okay for high school kids.  There is a driving traffic jam first thing in the morning.

Lunch Time has settled down
Yes, the food is significantly better and delicious.  Yes, you have to stand in line.  I know these are new concepts.  There is plenty of time to be polite and respectful and still receive a great lunch.  The second day of school is the only day we ran out of the entree -- kids' favorite during second lunch.

Get to class on time.  Those who want to be late are.  Those who want to be on time are.  Hasn't changed in 200 years and I suspect will not in the next 200.  There are isolated examples of students walking from the far edges of the campus to the other side.  That is not all 1,700 students.  Most make it on time.  Most will make it on time regardless of the amount of time in between classes.

Class has begun.  There are great things happening in classes up and down the hallways.  Your children once again are receiving a fantastic education opportunity.  It exciting. Come in and see it some time.

Check parent portal.  If you do not see grades or assignments for some classes, please email me.  Akll grades are to be within two weeks of the assigned date.  Mid-terms are coming.  Get caught up.  The first quarter is always the worse.

We have had a GREAT start.  Thank you.  This is going to be another wonderful year.
