School Fair January 12 Convention Center

Minneapolis public and charter schools to co-host Minneapolis School Fair Showcase

MINNEAPOLIS –Minneapolis public and charter schools are partnering to host the first Minneapolis School Fair Showcase on Saturday, Jan. 12, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Minneapolis Convention Center in downtown Minneapolis.

This event will bring together families of prospective students in one location to meet educators from public and charter schools and to explore an array of educational possibilities for school-age children, pre-kindergarten through high school.

Free childcare for children ages 3-5 will be provided courtesy of Minneapolis Kids, Minneapolis Community Education’s school-age child care program. There will also be free parking for families at the 11th and Marquette Ave. ramp.

Free shuttle transport will be available from 10 locations across the city: Lucy Laney School, Davis Center, Bethune School, Logan Park, Phillips Community Center, Little Earth, Cedar Square, Green Central School, Lyndale School and Whittier School. Shuttle buses will run every 45 to 50 minutes: 8:45 a.m. – noon to the fair and 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. from the fair (view full schedule). Curbside locations for shuttle pick-up are available on the MPS Information Line, 612.668.1842. This information and other fair details are recorded in English, Spanish, Hmong and Somali.

MPS’ deadline for submitting school priority request cards is Tuesday, February 19, 2013.
