Attendance Matters

There is nothing new able the idea of being able to play the IF you show up.   The statistics and research on attendance repeat that idea.   95% daily attendance to class/school improves the grade by 40%.  The numbers are awesome.   The difference in grades between a student attending 85% and 95% of the time are significant.  If one wanted to start with one thing that can help grades and academic success, start with getting to class every day.

Naturally, being prepared, paying attention, being on time, and study are important and drastically improve academic success.  Just staying home a day here and there, skipping a class and just not showing up hamper student success.  The Parent Portal lists daily attendance by period.  There is no need to wait on that robocall to tell families that someone is gone that day.

Too many students are taking the "easy" way out and wasting important events in lives.  What we do or do not do today has tremendous effects on our futures.
