Southwest Construction Noise Alert Wednesday and Thursday

"Shooting the Deck" is a construction term for connecting various materials.  It the case of work at Southwest this is the connection of steel and concrete.  According to those firms who know, this increases the strength of the materials greater than each single piece and greater than the two added together.

Shooting the Deck is also safer and more environmental friendly than welding according to construction journals.

The down side is the noise.  If you have ever had your roof replaced you are probably familiar with the sound of the "nail gun" shooting nails into the shingles and plywood.  If you are not thinking about it, the noise can be startling.

Starting Wednesday and into Thursday, the construction workers at the Southwest site will be "shooting the deck."  By use of equipment the connectors will be driven into place with force rather than welded.

If you have questions, please call.
