Southwest Students Participate in Science and Health Related Career Fair

Hello,
On behalf of the Multilingual Department, the Office of Student, Families  and Community Engagement and STEM we want to thank you for your recent participation at the Science and Health Related Careers Fair on February 26, 2015 at Roosevelt High School for Latino students.

We served around 375 students. Both students and organizations had an incredible and inspiring experience. I strongly believe that that when students are able to create a strong support network between the school and their community they are more likely to success and achieve academic progress. The fair was also design for them to value bilinguism as an asset, motivating them to continue to increase their English proficiency level, and develop short and long term career goals, be ready for college, a career and life.

I feel honored with all the incredible professional, passionate and reliable people that join us in this event. As I mentioned before, this is the first year doing this and we want to expand the concept to other high schools and at family level.  We will gladly continue this conversation for future events! I also hope you had the opportunity to connect with district and school key staff to continue this collaboration.

A big thanks to our volunteers as well, and to Yajaira Guzman Carrero, Aspiring Principal at Roosevelt for hosting the event, providing a very welcoming environment for organizations and the students, and maintaining students engaging and within the activity area.
