Southwest Business Team - First Team From Minnesota to Place and it was 1st

BUSINESS NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!
A team of Southwest High School students: Weston Lowry, Jillian Kirk, Henry Meeker, Hannah Amos, and recently earned top honors in the national Virtual Team Challenge competition sponsored by the firm Deloitte. As currently enrolled students in the school’s Introduction to Business class, led by Diane Ewing, they applied a combination of business content knowledge, and exceptional teamwork to accomplish this feat.

The Virtual Team Challenge is an online business simulation that was created and launched by Deloitte in 2008. The goal is to introduce students to the business world and what's involved in operating a successful business. Other objectives include teaching students the value of collaboration and teamwork, in regards to time management, workflow efficiency and the completion of detailed tasks.

This team of talented sophomores posted one of the highest scores since the game’s inception and beat the 2nd place nationally ranked team by a significant margin. If you have the opportunity, please congratulate Henry, Jillian, Hannah, and Weston on this exciting accomplishment!

The Southwest Business program is in it's first year.

The Lakers were the first team from Minnesota to even place since the games inception in 2008. We took 1st place out of 400 schools.

A representative of the United Way accepted a $500 check from Deloitte as a reward for our students taking 1st place!
