MPLS Going Mobile -- Opt IN

MPS is going mobile in 2013-14 with new tools to connect with staff and families on the go. Beginning the week of Sept. 16, we will be sending text alerts to the cell phone numbers of families and staff who have opted in. Families were given information about this service throughout the summer and we will be doing a final reminder School Messenger call today.

To subscribe, text YES to 68453. To opt out, reply with STOP to any message. For assistance, reply with HELP to any message. The service is free to families and staff members, although individual phone plan message and/or data rates may apply. Families must opt in if they wish to receive text messages.

Communications will pilot this service for the next month, with the goal of expanding the service to schools this fall. For those who have opted in, text messages will automatically accompany all SchoolMessenger phone calls and emails sent from our office.

Parents can subscribe or unsubscribe for text alerts from their cell phone. Parents who wish to modify other communication settings (i.e. request to receive text messages only, emails only, etc.) should contact the Office of Communications at answers@mpls.k12.mn.us or 612.668.0234.

Coming soon: MPS mobile app
MPS will soon launch a free iPhone, iPad and Android app that will allow users to access MPS news, updates and notifications, calendars, lunch menus, staff directory, sports and more at their fingertips. This is one more way we are seeking to reach out to families using communication methods that meet their needs.

Sincerely,
Stan Alleyne
Chief Communications Officer
