Heltemes and Pekala American Mathematics Competition Winners

On Wednesday afternoon, 99 of our Southwest students took part in the American Mathematics Competition. Each of them paid two dollars for the privilege of taking a 25 question, 75 minutes, multiple-choice, no calculator math test. Sounds like everyone's idea of a good time, doesn't it?

The following are links to the two different exams and the solutions.

Paul Heltemes has earned the top score for the AMC 10 test. This is the second straight year that Paul is the school winner for that exam. Congratulations to Paul!

Russell Pekala has earned the top score for the AMC 12 test. Russell has likely earned a score high enough to qualify himself for the second round of the competition. He has earned the privilege to take a 15 question, three hour exam. I'm jealous!
