The event is on February 27 & 28th, which is a mere month away. Unfortunately, we were invited just a few days ago (Friday), giving us less than ample time to raise the necessary funds. But the opportunity is incredible, so we're at least giving it a shot. You never know! The level of contacts, resources, and advisory support we can receive from this opportunity on an international basis is unprecedented for us, and we hope to make it work. WORC
just received an incredible opportunity, and I wanted to share a little bit
about it. As you may or may not know, I was invited about half a year ago
to be part of the World NGO Day Initiative, a program run through the official
secretariat of UNESCO, an extension of the United Nations. It was a huge
honor and after weeks of careful reflection and consideration, I gleefully
accepted. As one of the US Goodwill Ambassadors for this initiative, some
of the WORC staff and I were invited to the official conference in Helsinki,
Finland - a forum where global leaders will rally together to discuss and
debate ideas around the roles of NGOs in the world. Collectively, WORC
executives would represent MN/Chi nonprofits and the youth voice on an
international platform, which is an enormous opportunity for us and our
communities.
However,
with the program being a large volunteer effort, this conference is not covered
for invitees. As a rather unexpected invitation, this is outside of our
budget, and therefore not supported internally. That said, we are
reaching out to all of our networks to see if they have contacts that might be
willing to support. If any of you are part of communities that you think
