Day 2 of 2010

Still keeping those New Year Resolutions? Much is written about keeping them, why they are important; who cares? Maybe you actually make a list or just reflect about some improvements that might be nice. Maybe a couple less pounds or a start on the exercise program are part of your new thoughts. But whatever the scope of resolution I hope you have success.

Without dreams there is no hope. We must see a brighter tomorrow if we are to make it through some of the tough spots that come our way. Our dreams become pathways and guides.

School funding returns to the front page. Regardless of your particular stand on the issues, I trust that you will consider what the reductions in funding have done to public services - including the schools. If we want a better tomorrow we have to take care of it today. That 9th grader only has one year as a 9th grader. I hope he/she is not part of the class that had to weakened for lack of sufficient funding.

A more lasting and sustainable system has to be developed for the appropriate funding of public services that provide for the common good. Please encourage your legislators to review the current taxing structure and begin the process of significant change that will be good for Minnesota for many years to come.
