Southwest Debate Team on the Roll

The Southwest Debate Team has been active since August.  The topic is an exciting one - Resolved: The United States federal government should pay financial reparations to African Americans to compensate for historic racial injustices.

The Classic Debate League continues up into December.  The teams debate this topic for four weeks.  The students select a second topic to finish the season.  At the conclusion of the season there is a State Tournament to earn a State Championship.

In the recent Eastview Invitational tournament one of the team finished in the top of their class.  Isabella Kemling and Sage Curry-Wynne finished with a 3 and 1 record for the day. Congratulations.

The Debate Team practices during the week after school.  There is still time to join the team to begin your Debate challenge.  Coaches are Alex Hoselton and Caroline Hooper.
