Southwest Parent Connections (SWPC)
A four-part class for 9th and 10th grade parents (and any parents new to SWHS) to assist you in preparing your student for a successful high school career. Topics to be addressed include:
• Understanding the Southwest High School system
• How to support your student and promote balance between school, activities, and family
• Ways to get involved at SWHS – for both the parent and student
• Requirements needed to get into college: GPA, Classes, testing, etc
• Higher education options and expectations for the future
• College and financial aid.
All 4 classes will be held at SWHS on the following dates, either in the Media Center or the Career & College Center (CCC, room 104):
• Thurs, Nov 8 6:00-7:00 pm: Balancing coursework, sports, clubs and family commitments
• Thurs, Jan 17 6:00- 7:00pm: Parent Portal and Naviance
• Thurs, Feb 21 6:00- 7:00 pm: College Fair for Parents (4 reps from local colleges and universities)
• Thurs, March 14 6:00- 7:00 pm: Academic Programing at Southwest
