Student Walkout in Opposition to Deportation of Immigrates

Students have been encouraged to walkout today around noon in opposition to "raids conducted by the ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) aimed at Latinos and East Africans..."

We encourage students to follow the issues of the day.  We respect their rights for peaceful action in support of their ideals and opinions.  At the same time we encourage students (and their families) to understand the issues and the various sides of any given topic.

Students who choose to participate in the walkout will not be stopped.  The absences are unexcused.  A family should have those conversations and determine what will be supported by the family.  Students who are in sports or other extra-curricular activities need to be in school without unexcused absences to be able to participate in this evening's events.

The walkout is scheduled around noon.  Students are expected to leave the school grounds and not be disrupted of the learning process of others.  Once the student leaves the building she/he is not allowed to re-enter for the rest of the day.
