Southwest Math Team Continues Success

Math Team

The Southwest High School Math Team was enthusiastically represented at Meet #1. On Monday, November 3, six of the Minneapolis High Schools and one charter school met up at Patrick Henry High School for the first meet of the year.

Our next competition is at Roosevelt High School on Monday, November 24.

Some statistics from the meet:

166 total students from seven schools in the Minneapolis division participated

75 Southwest students participated in individual events at the meet

70 of the Southwest students scored at least one point by correctly answering at least one question – a feat that is likely more impressive if you consider the questions posed

Seven students from Southwest earned at least 10 of the possible 14 points in their events…that is awesome!

One student from Southwest had the highest individual point total at the meet – Congratulations to Nathaniel Larson who earned a perfect 14 points!

The Varsity Team (official scoring team) earned 96 of a possible 136 points, finishing in first place within the division. That point total should put us in within the top 10 teams in the state, based onpast history.

The junior varsity team earned 46 of a possible 136 points, unofficially finishing in fourth place within the division.
