Great Laker Weekend

Another bit of excitement in being a Laker. First time in 71 years - lights for a football game and a soccer game. But more importantly a huge community gathering!

Sports are fantastic and winning us great. But this Past weekend there is no question that it was a Laker community win!

Huge crowds, lots of alumni, outpouring of neighbors and grandparents and are the extended family were part of the excitement. Even the import, illegal fireworks added to the scene. Cheering, bands playing, food, grills, the smell of popcorn and performance team at half time and throughout the game -- thousands of people making it a weekend to remember. But also the standard of what can be. No we don' t nee lights for excitement or support or authoring as a community behind our young people. Bu even bigger than that a community investing in it's own future.

Thank you to Jodi and Ryan and the painters and food vendors and boosters and families for setting the new standard of support and participation.

It was sports this weekend and the next should be the arts and homework and appropriate financing for schools and improved facilities and college applications and career awareness and preparation. Every child deserves fantastic support and encouragement.
