ACT for Juniors - 10 days from NOW

Good morning.  10 days until you take the ACT at SWHS.  This email will address some things to expect the morning of the test.  The room assignments where you will be testing are now posted in the LINK, so check that out ahead of time so you are in the right place at 8:30 a.m. SHARP!  When entering your testing room you will be asked to present YOUR PHOTO I.D. and then directed to your seat by the room supervisor.  You will be asked to put everything away, except your ID and pencils.  Remember, NO ELETRONIC MOBILE DEVICES ARE ALLOWED IN THE ROOM, except your calculator.  Eating and drinking will not be allowed in the testing room, but you will get a 15 minute break after the 2nd portion of the test.

If you find yourself feeling jittery or anxious before the testing begins, try to practice mental and physical relaxation techniques.  Be sure to ask about any test taking procedure that is not perfectly clear to you.  If you find yourself getting tired during the exam
check your posture.  This may help you regain your focus and finish the task at hand.  If you become ill during the test, the room supervisor will ask you if you want to leave the test, and if you want your answer sheet scored.  If you decide to leave the testing room, you will not be allowed to return and continue
so be sure that leaving is what you want to do.

Once again, the ACT subject testing sequence is as follows:
English:   45 minutes/75 multiple choice questions.  (Stresses Grammar)
Math:      60 minutes/60 multiple choice questions.  (Up to Trigonometry)
Reading: 35 minutes/40 multiple choice questions.   (Four passages, one each Prose Fiction,  Social Science, Humanities, and Natural Science)
Science:   35 minutes/40 multiple choice questions.  (Charts, Experiments)

A word regarding timing:  The test proctor in your testing room will remind you when there are 5 minutes remaining on that particular test.  It is to your advantage to HAVE ALL QUESTIONS BUBBLED IN WHEN TIME IS CALLED.  ACT DOES NOT penalize you if you guess and get the question wrong.
