Boys Football finished the regular season with a solid win over St. Paul Johnson 20 - 13. Southwest was the only Minneapolis team to score a victory over the St Paul teams. An excellent sign of a building program.
Southwest Laker Football is co-champions of the city league. The is a huge milestone in the continuing development of the football program. It was not that many years ago the fans in the stands stormed the field when the team scored its first touchdown in many games (and lost that game).
The program hit bottom and in the recent years under two previous coaches began to bring back the pride and the spirit. This group of players and coaches have played a great season and show much promise of more to come.
Sectional play to start next week. Come out and cheer your city conference champions - the Laker Football Team!
